Omega II
Master the Omega II card counting system — the most accurate Level 2 system for professional blackjack. Protocol 21's advanced drills support multi-value card counting and Ace side counts.

What is the Omega II card counting system?
Omega II is an advanced Level 2 balanced counting system that assigns different integer values to different card ranks. It counts 2s, 3s, and 7s as +1; 4s, 5s, and 6s as +2; 9s as -1; and 10s-Kings as -2. Aces are tracked via a separate side count, making it one of the most powerful and mathematically efficient card counting systems available.
Card Values at a Glance
| Cards | Count Value | Category |

| 4, 5, 6 | +2 | Low |
| 8 | 0 | Neutral |
| 9 | -1 | Mid-High |
| 10, J, Q, K | -2 | High |

System Performance Metrics
These statistics define the mathematical capabilities of the Omega II system. Higher is better for all three correlation metrics.
| Metric | Score |

| Betting Correlation (BC) | 0.92 |
| Playing Efficiency (PE) | 0.67 |
| Insurance Correlation (IC) | 0.85 |
| System Level | 2 (Advanced) |
History & Origins
Omega II was developed by Bryce Carlson and published in his book 'Blackjack for Blood' (1994). Carlson specifically designed it to maximize playing efficiency while retaining a strong betting correlation — a notoriously difficult balance to achieve. Its high Playing Efficiency of 0.67 means it produces significantly better playing decisions than Hi-Lo (PE: 0.51) when using index deviations.
Omega II vs. Other Systems
Omega II's primary advantage over Hi-Lo is its dramatically higher Playing Efficiency (0.67 vs. 0.51). This means its index plays (deviating from basic strategy based on count) are substantially more accurate. However, the cognitive burden of tracking +2 and -2 values while simultaneously maintaining an Ace side count is enormous. Most professional card counters choose Hi-Lo for its simplicity and reserve Omega II for single-deck or double-deck games where playing decisions matter more.
Train Omega II with Protocol 21
Protocol 21 features dedicated Omega II drill modes, speed training, casino noise simulation, and offline play with no scammy in-app coins. It is the only app that supports all 6 major counting systems.
